The Opportunity:

The Assistant Headteacher (Behaviour and Attitudes) will play a key role in shaping the school’s approach to behaviour and attitudes, ensuring a consistent and positive culture across the institution. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about leadership, education, and making a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and review the effectiveness of the school’s Behaviour policy
  • Ensure alignment with statutory guidance and use data to identify trends and plan interventions
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Senior Leadership Team and governing body on Behaviour and Attitudes
  • Promote a positive, inclusive school culture based on high expectations and respect
  • Oversee pastoral systems and ensure effective support for vulnerable pupils
  • Monitor day-to-day behaviour systems and lead responses to serious incidents
  • Act as a Designated Senior Lead for safeguarding and ensure systems support inclusion
  • Develop CPD on behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Support and coach staff with challenging classes and individuals
  • Communicate with parents and external agencies on behaviour concerns and support strategies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in behaviour management
  • Experience in a leadership or management role within education
  • Strong understanding of the Teacher Standards and School Teachers’ Pay & Conditions Document
  • Ability to develop and implement school policies
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection

Preferred

  • Experience in leading behaviour and attitudes initiatives
  • Experience with pastoral systems and support for vulnerable pupils
  • Experience in developing and delivering CPD
  • Experience in working with parents and external agencies
  • Experience in school improvement planning and self-evaluation
