The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour and Culture, you will play a key role in shaping a positive, inclusive and consistent school culture. This is a strategic leadership position that offers the chance to drive measurable improvements in behaviour and student conduct across the academy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of behaviour and culture strategies across all year groups.
  • Ensure consistent application of high expectations and support for staff in understanding the link between behaviour and student need.
  • Use data to inform and improve behaviour systems, ensuring they are inclusive and relational.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head Teacher to reduce repeat incidents and suspensions year on year.
  • Promote a robust and proactive safeguarding culture across the school.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families to support a positive school environment.
  • Support staff in developing confidence and alignment in their approach to behaviour management.
  • Contribute to the ongoing refinement of school-wide systems and improvement plans.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in improving behaviour and student conduct.
  • Experience at senior or middle leadership level.
  • Understanding of the link between inclusion, disadvantage, and conduct.
  • Ability to use data to drive improvement and make informed decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred

  • NPQSL or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in leading behaviour and attendance initiatives.
  • Experience working in a school serving disadvantaged communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
