The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Science Technician to lead and manage a team of Science Technicians, support teaching staff, and oversee practical work in Biology or Physics. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Science Technician or graduate Scientist to make a meaningful impact on student learning and curriculum delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the use and maintenance of practical resources and facilities within the Science department.
  • Provide assistance and advice to teachers, students, and support staff on practical needs of the Science curriculum.
  • Manage and supervise a team of Science Technicians to ensure smooth operation of the department.
  • Oversee practical work for either Biology or Physics, ensuring alignment with curriculum requirements.
  • Maintain and update Science equipment and resources to support teaching and learning.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality Science education through effective resource management and technical support.
  • Collaborate with Science staff to ensure the safe and efficient use of laboratory equipment and materials.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of practical lessons and experiments.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a Science Technician role or a graduate qualification in a Science-related field.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to provide technical support to Science teaching staff and students.
  • Commitment to promoting student engagement and academic excellence in Science.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing practical work in Biology or Physics.
  • Familiarity with Science curriculum requirements and teaching standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with educational technology and digital resources in Science teaching.
