The Opportunity:

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape the behaviour, attendance, and pastoral systems across the school. As an Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour & Standards, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high expectations and fostering a positive, inclusive culture that supports student learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the behaviour, attendance, and pastoral systems across the school.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure consistency and clarity in behaviour management across all areas of the school.
  • Provide strategic leadership to a dedicated pastoral team, driving a culture of high standards and positive student experiences.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to shape whole-school policies and ensure alignment with the school’s values and vision.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour systems, making data-informed recommendations for improvement.
  • Engage with students, parents, and external partners to maintain high expectations and promote a shared commitment to student success.
  • Support the development of staff through training, coaching, and leadership opportunities.
  • Ensure that safeguarding and welfare policies are consistently applied and upheld.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience of leading behaviour and pastoral systems in a secondary school setting.
  • Experience of line managing staff and leading teams effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to high standards of behaviour, attendance, and student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational setting.
  • Experience of working within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation.
  • Knowledge of current educational policies and best practices in behaviour management.
  • Experience of developing and implementing whole-school improvement strategies.
