The Opportunity:
As the Assistant Head of Science Department, you will play a key role in leading and developing the Science department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about education and committed to driving improvement and excellence in Science teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the leadership and management of the Science department.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve teaching standards and student outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and assessment practices.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Science staff at all levels.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Science department to ensure continuous improvement.
- Work closely with senior leaders to align departmental goals with school-wide objectives.
- Promote a culture of professional development and innovation in Science education.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders, including parents and external partners.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in Science teaching and leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of Science curriculum, including GCSE and A Level qualifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team of Science staff.
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership or management role within education.
- Familiarity with initial teacher training and staff development programs.
- Experience with National Teaching School initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes in Science.
