The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a vital role in shaping the daily experience of a year group and making a meaningful impact on student wellbeing and behaviour. This is an opportunity to lead and support students in a school that prioritises high expectations, consistency, and strong pastoral care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the pastoral care, behaviour, and wellbeing of a year group.
  • Work closely with the Head of Year to maintain high standards of conduct, attendance, and personal development.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues to support a calm, purposeful learning environment.
  • Deliver consistent routines and clear expectations to promote student success.
  • Provide proactive support and interventions to address student needs and challenges.
  • Ensure the school’s HEART values are embedded in daily interactions and practices.
  • Collaborate with other staff to develop and implement strategies that enhance student engagement and behaviour.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and outcomes related to pastoral care and wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE Maths and English (minimum grade C or equivalent).
  • Experience working with young people aged 11-16.
  • Experience leading small group interventions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in a pastoral leadership role.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management strategies and systems.
  • Experience in a school setting with a strong pastoral culture.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and improvement.
