The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher - Director of Sixth Form, you will lead a vibrant and ambitious community of students, ensuring they receive a future-facing, enriching education. This role is central to shaping the academic and pastoral experience of the Sixth Form, fostering a culture of intellectual risk-taking and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and compassionate leadership to the Sixth Form, ensuring a high-quality educational experience.
  • Champion academic excellence, pastoral care, and student development across the Sixth Form.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that support student leadership, personal growth, and university preparation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align the Sixth Form’s vision with the school’s overall mission and values.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, intellectual engagement, and community spirit within the Sixth Form.
  • Oversee the management of the Sixth Form Centre, including its various spaces and programmes.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding academic outcomes, including Oxbridge and Russell Group admissions.
  • Work closely with the Higher Education and Careers team to provide expert guidance and support to students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior educational role, ideally within a Sixth Form or similar setting.
  • Strong academic background and a deep understanding of modern scholarship and educational trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing student pastoral care and academic programmes.
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and personal development.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or managing student-led initiatives and extracurricular programmes.
  • Familiarity with Oxbridge and university admissions processes.
  • A track record of achieving high academic outcomes and student progression to top universities.
  • Experience in working within a school that values modern scholarship, wellbeing, and community engagement.
