The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Headteacher to join our school on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role will play a key part in delivering high-quality teaching and learning, leading by example, and supporting the overall smooth running of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and develop teaching and learning through coaching, demonstrating, and modelling good practice.
  • Lead by example and encourage, coach, and mentor staff to maintain consistently high standards of teaching.
  • Ensure the best possible curriculum offer, provision, well-being, progress, and achievement for all students.
  • Work with the Head of School to deliver a high-quality, engaging, and well-resourced curriculum.
  • Develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the school’s development.
  • Act as Exam Officer, ensuring examinations and accreditation processes meet JCQ requirements.
  • Lead on Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance for KS4 pupils.
  • Take responsibility for leading a curriculum area, such as Careers, across all Surrey Schools.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • QTS or QTLS
  • Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching in relevant key stages or special needs environment
  • Experience of turning policy into effective and successful practice
  • Leadership of a significant area or phase, including responsibility for raising standards across the school
  • Effective team management and collaboration with others
  • Strong communication skills across a range of audiences and mediums
  • Ability to manage complex scenarios and resolve conflict

Preferred

  • Accredited training in specific areas of special education, such as Autism or Dyslexia
  • Management or leadership qualification
