The Opportunity:
A Sports Assistant (Hockey or Netball) is sought to support the school’s sporting and co-curricular programme. This role is ideal for a graduate looking to gain experience in an educational setting, with the potential for a PGCE placement and contract extension. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality hockey or netball programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist professional sports coaches and PE/games staff across the curriculum.
- Support the delivery of hockey or netball sessions, ensuring a high standard of coaching and player development.
- Contribute to the school’s sporting and co-curricular programme, including participation in fixtures and trips.
- Work collaboratively with staff and students to promote a positive and inclusive sporting culture.
- Assist with pre-season training, summer camps, and other sporting events as required.
- Provide support during boarding duties, where applicable.
- Participate in the school’s induction and CPD programme for staff development.
- Maintain a flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings and evenings.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A graduate with a good degree in any discipline.
- Strong playing experience in hockey or netball at a club level or above.
- A specialism in either hockey or netball.
- Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a positive approach to all games.
- Ability to work collaboratively and participate fully in a busy school environment.
Preferred
- Coaching experience in hockey or netball.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Willingness to consider a career in teaching.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
