The Opportunity:

A Sports Assistant (Hockey or Netball) is sought to support the school’s sporting and co-curricular programme. This role is ideal for a graduate looking to gain experience in an educational setting, with the potential for a PGCE placement and contract extension. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality hockey or netball programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist professional sports coaches and PE/games staff across the curriculum.
  • Support the delivery of hockey or netball sessions, ensuring a high standard of coaching and player development.
  • Contribute to the school’s sporting and co-curricular programme, including participation in fixtures and trips.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and students to promote a positive and inclusive sporting culture.
  • Assist with pre-season training, summer camps, and other sporting events as required.
  • Provide support during boarding duties, where applicable.
  • Participate in the school’s induction and CPD programme for staff development.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings and evenings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A graduate with a good degree in any discipline.
  • Strong playing experience in hockey or netball at a club level or above.
  • A specialism in either hockey or netball.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a positive approach to all games.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and participate fully in a busy school environment.

Preferred

  • Coaching experience in hockey or netball.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Willingness to consider a career in teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
