Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist students with autism and special needs in the classroom
  • Promote student welfare and safeguarding
  • Help develop positive relationships with students to encourage confidence and independence
  • Assist with lesson planning, resource preparation, and classroom management
  • Implement behaviour support strategies, including physical intervention when required
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on student progress and needs
  • Contribute to the overall educational and developmental goals of the school
  • Support students in achieving vocational and academic qualifications

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (paid or voluntary)
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Knowledge of SEN, SEMH, or ASD support strategies
  • Commitment to a child-centred, positive, and creative approach to teaching and learning

Preferred

  • Level 2+ qualification in Teaching & Learning Support
  • Experience with behaviour support strategies such as Team Teach physical intervention
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting
