The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher, you will be a key leader in shaping the future of a school dedicated to supporting autistic pupils. This role offers the chance to drive strategic priorities, enhance teaching and learning, and foster a culture of inclusion and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher in leading the school, ensuring high-quality education and care for all pupils
  • Contribute to strategic planning and school improvement as a core member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Embed a strong culture of safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil safety across the school
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes that support efficient school operations
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for pupils
  • Provide clear advice, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and governance bodies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practice
  • Knowledge of education law, SEN requirements, and statutory frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead strategically and support staff effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others

Preferred

  • Experience in senior leadership roles within special needs education
  • Experience with implementing school improvement strategies
  • Experience with leading teams and managing complex school operations
