The Opportunity:
We are seeking an inspiring Assistant Headteacher - SENCO to lead and develop inclusive practice across the school. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special educational needs and to contribute to the ongoing success of a forward-thinking institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) provision to ensure all students receive the support they need.
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to build strong relationships and deliver a cohesive approach to student support.
- Champion inclusive practice across the school, ensuring that the school's core values of kindness, hard work, and high aspirations are embedded in all areas of learning.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance outcomes.
- Provide professional guidance and support to staff on inclusive teaching strategies and SEND-related policies.
- Contribute to the leadership team, supporting the Headteacher in the strategic development of the school.
- Ensure that the school meets all legal and regulatory requirements related to SEND and inclusion.
- Promote the wellbeing and mental health of students, ensuring a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading and managing SEND provision in a secondary school setting.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- In-depth knowledge of SEND policy, legislation, and best practice.
- A commitment to inclusion, diversity, and student wellbeing.
- Experience in working within a school leadership team.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar senior leadership role, such as Assistant Headteacher or SENCO.
- Experience with curriculum development and inclusion strategies.
- Experience with pastoral care and student wellbeing initiatives.
- Experience with working in partnership with external agencies and support services.
