The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Principal - Inclusion and SEND, you will lead and develop the school’s provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil can thrive. This role is central to driving whole-school improvement and raising standards across multiple areas, including SEND, literacy, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the school’s provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.
- Champion personal development across the school, overseeing programmes that support pupils’ wellbeing, behaviour, and preparation for life beyond school.
- Develop whole-school approaches to improving SEND outcomes, including literacy interventions and initiatives to raise reading ages.
- Embed inclusive practice through curriculum, teaching, and professional development.
- Take strategic responsibility for the mapping and delivery of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development (SMSC) and Fundamental British Values (FBV).
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to promote a culture of high expectations and inclusivity.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, external agencies, and the wider community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a proven track record of successful teaching.
- A proven record of successful leadership and inclusion strategy.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive pedagogy.
- Experience leading reading improvement strategies, including reading age intervention.
- Commitment to holistic pupil development, including Careers, PSHE, SMSC, and enrichment.
Preferred
- Experience in raising attainment for a diverse range of pupils.
- Ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and pupils alike.
- Commitment to professional development and a passion for improving outcomes for all pupils.
- Proven track record of leading whole-school improvement.
