The Opportunity:

As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading and managing provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support and challenge needed to achieve their full potential. This role is crucial in promoting inclusion, driving progress, and aligning provision with national curriculum and policy requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the school’s SEND policies and procedures to ensure compliance with national guidelines.
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies to support students with special educational needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring that all students receive appropriate support and challenge.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, teaching assistants, and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff to ensure a shared understanding of SEND provision.
  • Promote the school’s vision of academic excellence and the importance of education for all.
  • Inspire and motivate students with special educational needs to achieve their full potential.
  • Ensure that the curriculum is inclusive and appropriately adapted for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • SENDCo qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in an educational setting.
  • Strong classroom-based practice and a commitment to raising student achievement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and reviewing intervention strategies for students with special educational needs.
  • Experience in working with parents and carers to support student progress.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in promoting inclusion and raising standards in a secondary school setting.
