Assistant Safeguarding Officer needed to support safeguarding efforts and ensure student wellbeing.

The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Safeguarding Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer to protect students from harm. This is a key position that requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to student safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer in managing and reducing the risk of harm to pupils.
  • Liaise with external agencies and colleagues within the school to ensure all safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and in line with statutory and academy guidelines.
  • Provide administrative support to the Safeguarding Team, including arranging meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Work closely with pupils at varying levels of risk to understand and meet their individual needs with guidance from senior leaders.
  • Attend and contribute to Trust Safeguarding (TAS) meetings to ensure consistency and compliance with safeguarding policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practices.
  • Support the implementation of safeguarding procedures and policies across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a safeguarding or pastoral role, ideally within education.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Understanding of statutory safeguarding requirements and procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience working with vulnerable children or young people.
  • Knowledge of child protection frameworks and legislation.
  • Experience in a school or multi-academy trust environment.
  • Experience in using safeguarding software or systems.
