The Opportunity:
As a Maths Department Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the future of mathematics education at the school. You will collaborate with senior leaders and colleagues to raise academic standards and ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential in Maths.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development of the Maths curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Work collaboratively with the Trust Director of Maths and the Subject Leader to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
- Inspire and guide colleagues in delivering high-quality lessons that challenge and engage all pupils.
- Promote and enhance the quality of Maths teaching across the school, ensuring consistency and excellence.
- Contribute to whole school improvement initiatives and support the Deputy Headteacher in strategic priorities.
- Encourage and foster a culture of innovation and professional growth within the Maths department.
- Play an active role in the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and community engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Lead Practitioner or Second in Department within a school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths and a commitment to raising attainment across all ability levels.
- Experience in curriculum development and the ability to drive improvement in teaching and learning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in working within a Multi Academy Trust or similar educational structure.
- A track record of successful staff development and mentoring.
- Experience with data analysis and the use of assessment outcomes to inform teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of current educational trends and initiatives in Maths education.
