The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Year Head, you will play a key role in supporting students within a year group, working closely with teaching and support staff to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is a vital position in helping students thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with pastoral issues and provide first line assistance to ensure their well-being and academic success.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies to address student needs.
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s PRIDE values.
  • Monitor and report on student behavior, attendance, and progress.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of PSHE and other curriculum-related activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in both academic and personal development.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives that enhance student welfare.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and carers regarding student progress and concerns.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral or leadership role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to promoting student well-being and academic success.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a year group leadership or assistant role.
  • Knowledge of PSHE and curriculum development.
  • Experience with pastoral care and behavior management strategies.
  • Familiarity with school policies and procedures related to student support.
