The Opportunity:

As an Attendance and Safeguarding Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring student attendance and safeguarding. You will work closely with students, staff, and parents to reduce absence and support the Designated Safeguarding Lead. This is a term-time position offering a pro-rata salary and the opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on whole school attendance data with accuracy and regularity.
  • Analyse attendance data to identify patterns and areas of concern.
  • Work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to reduce absence and improve engagement.
  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in safeguarding procedures and child protection.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date written records of all attendance and safeguarding-related activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance and student well-being.
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals as required.
  • Attend relevant training and continue to develop skills in attendance management and safeguarding.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of accuracy in record keeping and reporting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with children and families.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Experience with data management systems and software.
  • Understanding of educational frameworks and student welfare policies.
  • Experience in a school or academy setting.
