The Opportunity:
As Head of English, you will lead the English department and deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This role is ideal for an experienced and passionate educator committed to driving academic excellence and inspiring students in English Language and Literature.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English department, providing expert subject knowledge and guidance to teaching staff.
- Deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Develop and implement an ambitious curriculum to ensure outstanding student outcomes in GCSE and A-Level English.
- Support staff development and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Promote a strong sense of community and ensure students are engaged and motivated.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning practices.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure consistent improvement.
- Encourage a culture of reading, writing, and critical thinking among students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a proven record of delivering high-quality English lessons.
- Experience teaching English at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Strong understanding of current educational research and pedagogy.
- Ability to lead and motivate both students and staff.
- Demonstrated resilience and a strong personal drive.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about English and education.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and leadership.
- Familiarity with AQA GCSE and A-Level courses.
- Experience in staff mentoring or professional development.
- Strong record of student achievement and outcomes.
- Experience in leading a department or similar role.
