The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment. You will contribute to the school’s mission of driving educational improvement and helping students achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange internal and external cover for teacher absences and special events
- Record staff absence on SIMS and manage leave of absence procedures
- Liaise with teaching staff to prepare lesson materials for cover supervisors
- Supervise student work in accordance with Academy policy
- Manage external cover by providing timetables, registers, and relevant information
- Support cover supervisors with training and ongoing guidance
- Maintain records and manage the cover supervision budget
- Recruit and maintain a pool of cover supervisors
- Support Academy visits and attend planning and extra-curricular meetings
- Assist with classroom management, student attendance, and resource distribution
- Ensure a tidy and orderly classroom environment
- Support students’ social and personal needs and promote the Academy’s ethos
- Assist with preparation of resources and display areas
- Support invigilation and other teaching assistant duties as required
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage student behaviour and maintain a positive classroom environment
- Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and environmental specialism
- Flexibility and willingness to support a wide range of student needs
Preferred
- Experience in learning support or teaching assistant roles
- Knowledge of SEND support strategies
- Experience with students for whom English is an additional language
- Familiarity with SIMS or similar school management systems
- Experience in curriculum development or support
