The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment. You will contribute to the school’s mission of driving educational improvement and helping students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange internal and external cover for teacher absences and special events
  • Record staff absence on SIMS and manage leave of absence procedures
  • Liaise with teaching staff to prepare lesson materials for cover supervisors
  • Supervise student work in accordance with Academy policy
  • Manage external cover by providing timetables, registers, and relevant information
  • Support cover supervisors with training and ongoing guidance
  • Maintain records and manage the cover supervision budget
  • Recruit and maintain a pool of cover supervisors
  • Support Academy visits and attend planning and extra-curricular meetings
  • Assist with classroom management, student attendance, and resource distribution
  • Ensure a tidy and orderly classroom environment
  • Support students’ social and personal needs and promote the Academy’s ethos
  • Assist with preparation of resources and display areas
  • Support invigilation and other teaching assistant duties as required

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage student behaviour and maintain a positive classroom environment
  • Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and environmental specialism
  • Flexibility and willingness to support a wide range of student needs

Preferred

  • Experience in learning support or teaching assistant roles
  • Knowledge of SEND support strategies
  • Experience with students for whom English is an additional language
  • Familiarity with SIMS or similar school management systems
  • Experience in curriculum development or support
