Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement an ambitious and engaging science curriculum for all key stages.
  • Monitor and support staff performance, providing professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of high achievement and continuous improvement in science education.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to ensure alignment with school-wide goals and values.
  • Promote student engagement and enthusiasm for science through innovative teaching methods.
  • Ensure the science department meets all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in science education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in science, with the ability to teach across key stages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Leadership in a school rated 'Good' or above by Ofsted.
  • Experience in managing a large and successful science department.
  • Familiarity with post-16 science pathways, including A-Level and Applied courses.
