The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the regular attendance of all students. You will support families, liaise with agencies, and take appropriate action when necessary to improve attendance. This is a vital role in helping students succeed and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students and families to improve attendance and address barriers to regular school attendance.
  • Liaise with external agencies and internal teams to provide guidance and support for students at risk of exclusion.
  • Monitor and report on attendance progress in line with targets set by the DCSF and Local Authority.
  • Carry out statutory duties, including legal action where necessary, to ensure compliance with the academy’s home-school agreement.
  • Work closely with the Attendance Officer, where applicable, to ensure a cohesive and effective attendance strategy.
  • Provide regular updates and support to senior leadership on attendance trends and interventions.
  • Promote a positive school culture that values punctuality and engagement.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance attendance management skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a role involving student attendance management or pastoral support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and external agencies.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and legal responsibilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a school or education trust.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement frameworks.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Proficiency in using attendance management software or systems.
  • Experience in providing support for students at risk of exclusion.
