The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the school by monitoring, promoting, and improving pupil attendance and punctuality. This is a vital position that helps ensure students are present and ready to learn, contributing directly to their academic success and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily attendance records and identify patterns of absence
  • Communicate with parents/carers to follow up on absences and lateness
  • Produce attendance reports and work with senior leaders to address concerns
  • Support interventions to promote improved attendance
  • Liaise with external agencies when appropriate
  • Assist in developing strategies to improve overall attendance rates
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using data systems
  • Collaborate with staff and students to address barriers to learning

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Confidence using data systems and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with initiative and resilience
  • Previous experience in a school or similar setting (desirable but not essential)

Preferred

  • Experience in a school attendance or pastoral role
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures
  • Experience working with students and families
  • Understanding of the education sector and its challenges
