The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in driving improvements in student attendance through strategic interventions and strong engagement with students, parents, and the wider school community. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and school performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct home visits and late gate patrols to support consistent attendance.
- Implement whole-school strategies to reduce persistent absence and improve attendance levels.
- Engage with students and parents to identify and address barriers to attendance.
- Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of attendance-related processes.
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff to develop and monitor attendance improvement plans.
- Monitor and report on attendance data to support school-wide decision-making.
- Support the school’s vision of putting students first and transforming lives through education.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture that values the well-being of all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to conduct home visits and engage effectively with families.
- Experience in managing and monitoring attendance data.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in working with students with additional needs.
- Knowledge of attendance improvement strategies and best practices.
- Experience in a school setting with a strong focus on student outcomes.
- Experience in a large or multi-academy trust environment.
