The Opportunity:

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will provide expert support to students, particularly at GCSE level, in subjects such as Maths, English, and dyslexia. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact through targeted interventions, statutory reviews, and bespoke support programmes that drive academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex needs through tailored interventions and academic guidance.
  • Deliver specialist knowledge in areas such as Maths, English, and dyslexia to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Manage and lead statutory reviews and assessments to ensure compliance and student progress.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement effective support strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of intervention programmes to ensure measurable academic attainment.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students to foster confidence and achievement.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports on student progress and interventions.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to support student development and learning goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in education or a specialist subject area.
  • Proven experience in supporting students with additional needs, particularly at GCSE level.
  • Strong understanding of educational adaptations and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Experience in managing complex student caseloads and leading statutory reviews.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or tutoring Maths, English, or dyslexia.
  • Knowledge of specialist intervention programmes and strategies.
  • Experience with assessment and reporting systems.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staff collaboration.
