Attendance Officer needed to support student attendance and improve outcomes.

The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring students attend school regularly and are supported to succeed. You will work closely with pastoral teams, the Attendance Manager, and external partners to monitor attendance, implement interventions, and promote a culture of high expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the first-day response process to ensure swift follow-up on unexplained absences.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of all academy registers and maintain high standards of data management.
- Implement attendance communications with families in line with the academy’s attendance policy.
- Analyse attendance data to identify trends and patterns, and coordinate timely interventions.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral leaders and external partners to reduce persistent absence.
- Support the development of attendance initiatives and campaigns that promote regular attendance.
- Provide regular updates to staff on student attendance and strategies for improvement.
- Administer fixed penalty notices and follow up on referral forms to education welfare officers.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in attendance management or pastoral support.
- Strong organisational and data management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Proficiency in using ICT and relevant attendance systems.
Preferred
- Experience working with students with additional needs (SEND, PP, CIC).
- Background in education or administrative support.
- Experience in implementing attendance improvement strategies.
- Knowledge of education welfare services and procedures.
