The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring high standards of student attendance and punctuality. This role is vital in supporting pupils and families, and ensuring compliance with school policies and legislation. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to help every pupil reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and monitor good attendance and punctuality across the school.
  • Support pupils and families in addressing attendance issues and barriers to attendance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, school policies, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Year to develop and implement strategies for improving attendance.
  • Provide pastoral support to students and their families to encourage regular attendance and engagement in learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student attendance and punctuality.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions to ensure continuous improvement in attendance management.
  • Work with external agencies and support services as required to support students and families.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and school policies related to attendance and safeguarding.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in pastoral support or student welfare.
  • Experience with data management systems or attendance software.
  • Knowledge of the Golborne Way and the school’s values and vision.
