The Opportunity:

As a Family Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting families with a wide range of needs, helping them address challenges and build resilience. This is a vital role in improving attendance and outcomes for students, particularly those who are vulnerable or eligible for free school meals. Your work will directly contribute to the success and well-being of students and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate tailored support packages for families, delivering evidence-based interventions.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Identify and address barriers to student attendance, including those related to vulnerability and eligibility for support.
  • Work collaboratively with key partners to support families and improve outcomes for children and young people.
  • Provide targeted interventions to help students achieve sustainable positive change.
  • Support families in developing strategies for long-term success and well-being.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports on family support activities and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide attendance improvement strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in family support, social care, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in education or youth work.
  • Knowledge of attendance improvement strategies and interventions.
  • Experience with SEND support or working with students eligible for free school meals.
  • Experience in delivering evidence-based family support programs.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
