The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring students attend school regularly and achieve their full potential. This is a key role in student support, requiring strong communication and organisational skills. You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to improve attendance and punctuality across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and record student attendance data accurately and systematically.
  • Analyse attendance trends and identify patterns requiring intervention.
  • Support and implement strategies to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff to address attendance concerns.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on attendance performance to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent attendance policies are followed.
  • Engage with staff to promote and support attendance procedures and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and data.
  • Confidence in building positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in student support or pastoral care.
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures in schools.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting software.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on the Cheshire East Council NJC Pay Structure.
  • 37 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year).
