The Opportunity:
As a Biology Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Biology Department by managing practical work, coordinating research projects, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. This is a vital position that contributes to the delivery of high-quality science education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver practical work across the Biology curriculum.
- Oversee pupil research projects and ensure alignment with educational objectives.
- Liaise with teaching and support staff to maintain smooth department operations.
- Manage and line manage laboratory technicians within the team.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative and health and safety requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices.
- Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and resources effectively.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a laboratory environment with knowledge of biology equipment and procedures.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices in a school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and lead a team of laboratory technicians.
- Keen eye for detail and sound judgment.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational institution.
- Background in teaching or curriculum development.
- Experience with coordinating student research projects.
- Knowledge of modern laboratory techniques and innovations in science education.
