The Opportunity:
As a Biology Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Biology department by preparing and delivering practical work, maintaining equipment and resources, and ensuring a safe and inspiring learning environment for students. Your work will directly contribute to the quality of science education at the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver practical work across the Biology department.
- Maintain the safety of equipment, specimens, and other resources.
- Care for display organisms and ensure their proper upkeep.
- Check and order stock as needed to support teaching and learning.
- Uphold stringent health and safety standards in all laboratory activities.
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective science lessons.
- Assist in the maintenance and organisation of laboratory spaces.
- Contribute to a positive and professional working environment within the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working within a biology laboratory as a student and/or technician.
- Ability to maintain a safe and professional working environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to supporting teaching and learning in a school setting.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
Preferred
- Experience with laboratory equipment and specimen care.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in educational settings.
- Passion for science education and student engagement.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with curriculum requirements in biology education.
