The Opportunity:

As a Boarding Care Staff member, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of residential students. This is a key position within the pastoral team, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and care of high-achieving students in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of residential students at all times.
  • Provide a supportive and nurturing environment that aligns with the school's policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and support students’ daily needs, including academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with other members of the pastoral team to maintain a consistent and effective care approach.
  • Participate in the management of boarding facilities and ensure they remain clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Support students in developing independence, responsibility, and life skills.
  • Attend to any emergencies or incidents in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of student activities and well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a care or support role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • A valid Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service).

Preferred

  • Experience working with young people in a residential setting.
  • Previous experience in a boarding or pastoral care environment.
  • Knowledge of STEM subjects or a passion for education in these areas.
  • Experience in managing student behavior and promoting positive development.
