The Opportunity:

As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the school site. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated Site Team. You will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance and security tasks, ensuring the school runs smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the security of buildings and premises, including occasional weekend work when necessary
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards across the site
• Carry out general repairs, maintenance, and improvements to the school buildings
• Assist with porterage duties and stock control
• Conduct fire alarm and water testing regularly
• Liaise with contractors and other agencies to complete necessary works
• Keep accurate paper and computerised records of all tasks and maintenance work
• Work independently and use initiative to complete a variety of tasks around the site

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Excellent DIY and maintenance skills
• Ability to work unsupervised and use initiative
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
• Commitment to Health & Safety standards
• Flexibility to work on a two-week rota, including early mornings and late evenings

Preferred

• Experience in a similar role within an educational setting
• Knowledge of fire alarm and water testing procedures
• Experience with building maintenance and repairs
• Ability to work weekends and during school holiday periods

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive salary within the H4 pay scale (£30,288 - £31,611)
• Full-time, permanent position with 36 hours per week
