The Opportunity:

As a Carpentry Technician, you will support the delivery of high-quality practical learning experiences for students. This role is essential in maintaining safe, functional, and inspiring workshop environments that enable hands-on education and skill development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain workshops to ensure they are ready for practical teaching sessions.
  • Support teaching staff during hands-on learning activities and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Manage workshop stock, tools, and equipment to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks and risk assessments in line with regulations.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to improve workshop facilities and student learning outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and staff on the proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Keep detailed records of workshop usage, maintenance, and inventory.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and training opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant Level 2 qualification in carpentry or a related field.
  • Proven experience in carpentry within an industry or educational setting.
  • Strong practical skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and workshop faults.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in an educational or training environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices.
  • Experience with teaching or supporting students in a practical learning setting.
