The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Classical Civilisation Teacher to join a dynamic team and help shape the future of the subject at our college. This role offers the chance to inspire students, develop innovative curriculum initiatives, and contribute to a successful L3 Transition Programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in line with the OCR specification for both GCSE and A Level courses.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching methods and resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Promote the relevance of Classical Civilisation in modern education through educational visits and enrichment activities.
  • Support student progression to higher education, with a strong track record of university admissions in Classics-related disciplines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and contribute to the professional development of the teaching team.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to ensure continued improvement.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and academic success.
  • Contribute to the wider college community through pastoral support and extra-curricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Classical Civilisation at both GCSE and A Level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Classical Civilisation and its relevance to modern education.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality lessons and achieve excellent student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and educational innovation.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to L3 Transition Programmes.
  • Familiarity with OCR specifications and assessment requirements.
  • Experience in organising or leading educational visits and enrichment activities.
  • Demonstrable success in supporting students to progress to higher education in Classics-related disciplines.
