The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Computer Science Teacher to join our expanding Senior School. This role involves delivering engaging lessons to Years 6 to 10, preparing students for IGCSE Computer Science, and contributing to the school’s extracurricular programme in computing and robotics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a rigorous and engaging Computer Science curriculum aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
- Teach Computer Science across Years 6 to 11, inspiring students to develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Support students in preparing for IGCSE Computer Science examinations.
- Collaborate with Junior School teachers to ensure a smooth transition from the Coding and Robotics course.
- Teach a second STEM subject up to Key Stage 3 or 4, where applicable.
- Provide pastoral care and guidance as a Form Tutor, supporting students’ personal development.
- Build positive relationships with parents and keep them informed of student progress.
- Incorporate innovative teaching strategies and technology to enhance learning.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners, including EAL students.
- Contribute to the extracurricular programme through coding clubs, robotics teams, and computing competitions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in an international school setting.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Education, with a recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong knowledge of the Cambridge International Computer Science Curriculum and IGCSE examination requirements.
- Experience teaching Computer Science to students aged 10–16.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python and Java.
- Ability to plan and deliver inquiry-based learning.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
Preferred
- Experience teaching a second STEM subject (e.g., Mathematics or Physics) up to Key Stage 3 or 4.
- Experience in curriculum development or leadership within a Technology/Computing Department.
- Familiarity with project-based or concept-based learning approaches.
- Passion for integrating Computer Science into cross-curricular STEM initiatives.
- Cultural sensitivity and global-mindedness aligned with an international school ethos.
