The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and dynamic Geography Teacher to join its Senior School team. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to delivering an engaging and challenging Geography curriculum that encourages critical thinking, sustainability, and environmental awareness. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing students for IGCSE examinations and inspiring them to think globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a high-quality Geography curriculum aligned with international standards and the school's framework.
- Teach Geography to students aged 10–16, including preparation for IGCSE examinations.
- Design and implement lesson plans and assessments that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Integrate fieldwork and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) into teaching and learning.
- Promote environmental awareness and sustainability through lessons and school initiatives.
- Support students as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and academic guidance.
- Engage in professional development and share best practices in Geography education.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities such as geography clubs, field trips, and environmental projects.
- Maintain strong communication with parents and colleagues to support student progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum three years of teaching experience in an international school setting.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography or a related field, along with a recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong knowledge of the Cambridge International curriculum and experience teaching IGCSE Geography.
- Proven ability to deliver inquiry-based lessons and support EAL students.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Preferred
- Experience with fieldwork, GIS, and digital mapping tools.
- Commitment to environmental education and sustainability.
- Familiarity with inquiry-based, project-based, or concept-based learning approaches.
- Ability to teach a second Humanities subject such as History or Global Perspectives.
- Enthusiasm for co-curricular activities such as MUN, global citizenship, or sustainability initiatives.
