Summary:

Construction Skills Trainer needed to deliver and assess groundworks and construction qualifications.

The Opportunity:

As a Construction Skills Trainer, you will play a vital role in training and assessing learners in groundworks and construction-related qualifications. This is an opportunity to support apprentices and learners in developing the skills and knowledge required for successful careers in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and assess learners up to Level 3 in a workplace and college environment.
  • Support learners through assessment and curriculum delivery to ensure timely achievement of qualifications.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in line with college policies.
  • Deliver practical skills training in areas such as excavation, drainage, concreting, and site preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with UK construction regulations (CSCS, H&S, NRSWA, etc.).
  • Work across multiple sites and locations, requiring a full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes.
  • Uphold equality, diversity, and inclusion standards in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Stay up to date with awarding body standards and requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum Level 3 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Groundworks, Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Level 2/3 qualification in Groundworks or a related construction field.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience in Groundworks or a related commercial environment.
  • Assessor qualification (A1/TAQA/CAVA) or commitment to work towards it.
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths.
  • Understanding of UK construction regulations and awarding body standards.

Preferred

  • Experience of working in further education.
  • Knowledge of equality, diversity, and inclusion in the learning environment.
  • Experience with safeguarding and preventing issues in educational settings.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
