The Opportunity:
As a Core Subject Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH and additional SEND needs. Using a trauma-informed approach, you will help students re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop skills for their future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, adaptive lessons tailored to the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH and SEND.
- Teach one or more academic subjects at KS3 and/or KS4, maintaining high standards of learning and behaviour.
- Use assessment to monitor progress and support accreditation outcomes effectively.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and emotional readiness for learning.
- Apply consistent, trauma-informed strategies to manage behaviour and support student well-being.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support holistic development.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, safeguarding processes, and curriculum development.
- Engage in professional development and uphold the school’s values and safeguarding responsibilities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Hold a PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Possess Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
- Have experience teaching in a secondary setting or demonstrate readiness to teach pupils aged 11–16.
- Demonstrate experience in planning and delivering lessons that meet a range of learning and emotional needs.
- Experience using positive behaviour support strategies and trauma-informed approaches.
Preferred
- Experience with pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or other additional needs.
- Experience in curriculum development or CPD delivery.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with multi-disciplinary teams.
