Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Science lessons in line with the school’s curriculum and National Curriculum standards.
  • Take responsibility for the progress, behaviour, and achievement of students in allocated classes.
  • Develop and implement effective schemes of work that support student learning and engagement.
  • Mark and assess student work in accordance with school policies and provide timely feedback.
  • Collaborate with Form Teachers and Pastoral Staff to support students’ academic and personal development.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, including pastoral care, supervision, and student welfare.
  • Ensure the safe use of Science equipment and resources in line with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Contribute to the school’s appraisal process and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or currently on PGCE with QTS pending.
  • Strong knowledge of Science curriculum, including GCSE and KS4 requirements.
  • Ability to plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the school’s policies on inclusion, welfare, and equal opportunities.

Preferred

  • Background in Physics or other Science specialisms.
  • Experience with Science and STEM facilities and resources.
  • Enthusiasm for whole-school initiatives and involvement in pastoral work.
  • Experience in form tutoring or student supervision.
