The Opportunity:
As an SEN Teacher, you will be instrumental in creating a positive and supportive learning environment for students with autism. You will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to deliver engaging lessons and help students develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students individually and in small groups to develop literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills
- Deliver engaging lessons and learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, encouraging classroom environment
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to prepare resources and track student progress
- Assist with school activities, trips, and events that support student development
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to create and implement individual education plans
- Encourage student independence and self-confidence through consistent, nurturing support
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment that promotes student wellbeing and engagement
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher or relevant experience working with students with special educational needs
- A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach to working with students
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning and achievement
- Experience in developing and delivering individualised learning plans
Preferred
- Experience in teaching students with autism
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and SEN best practices
- Experience with curriculum development and resource creation
- Experience working in a school setting with a focus on student wellbeing and engagement
