The Opportunity:

As a Counsellor – Wellbeing and Pastoral, you will play a vital role in promoting and supporting a culture of health and well-being across the secondary school. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students, staff, and families through targeted interventions and whole-school initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement proactive programmes to enhance student, staff, and parent well-being and mental health awareness
• Provide tailored support to students and families, addressing challenges such as bereavement, transitions, anxiety, and self-harm risks
• Deliver the secondary well-being curriculum, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of students
• Champion student voice through initiatives such as the Student Well-Being Council and Well-Being Buddies
• Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, pastoral staff, and external agencies to ensure effective safeguarding and well-being practices

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Masters degree in student counselling or Counselling diploma
• Minimum of 2 years experience in school counselling

Preferred

• Experience with mental health interventions and early intervention strategies
• Familiarity with professional codes of practice such as those from BABCP or UKCP
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families
