The Opportunity:

As a Department Technician, you will support the delivery of practical learning across the curriculum, ensuring that resources and facilities are effectively managed. This role is essential in maintaining a supportive and inspiring learning environment for students aged 11-16.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Heads of Departments and Senior Technicians in coordinating the use of practical resources and facilities.
  • Provide advice and support to teaching staff on the practical needs of the curriculum.
  • Liaise with teaching and support staff to ensure smooth operation of departmental activities.
  • Maintain and manage tools, machinery, and materials used in school departments.
  • Organise and manage the storage and distribution of equipment and materials.
  • Support the implementation of health and safety procedures within the school.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of practical lessons and projects.
  • Ensure all technical equipment is in good working order and maintained regularly.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a workshop or technical support role.
  • Knowledge of tools, machinery, and materials used in secondary school departments.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and a stakeholder-focused approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational environment.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Familiarity with Catholic values and ethos.
