Deputy Director of SEND and Safeguarding opportunity with a growing education trust.

The Opportunity:

As Deputy Director of SEND and Safeguarding, you will play a vital role in supporting the most vulnerable students and ensuring a robust culture of safeguarding across all schools. This is a key leadership position that offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and to shape best practices across the trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of SEND and Safeguarding in delivering high-quality care and support for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are consistently implemented across all schools within the trust.
  • Collaborate with school leaders and staff to promote a culture of safeguarding and early intervention.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to staff on SEND and safeguarding matters.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND and safeguarding strategies across the trust.
  • Work closely with external agencies and stakeholders to ensure the well-being of students.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and other professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that support vulnerable students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in senior leadership within education, ideally in SEND or safeguarding.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks related to SEND and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience of working across a range of school phases (primary and secondary).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in multi-academy trust environments.
  • Leadership experience in SEND or safeguarding roles.
  • Experience of managing and supporting staff across multiple schools.
  • Experience with training and professional development for education staff.
  • Knowledge of best practices in supporting students with complex needs.
