The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral) to lead and shape the pastoral strategy across the school. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student wellbeing, safeguarding, and community engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral teams across Houses, boarding, and safeguarding.
- Champion student wellbeing, mental health, and safeguarding initiatives.
- Work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to shape school culture and values.
- Develop and implement strategies to support the emotional, social, and academic growth of students.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with parents, staff, and external agencies.
- Oversee the pastoral care of both day and boarding pupils, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Support the development of student leadership and character through the House system.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral programmes and interventions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an educational setting.
- Strong background in pastoral care, safeguarding, and student wellbeing.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large teams effectively.
- Commitment to the school’s values, including safeguarding and British values.
Preferred
- Experience in a boarding school environment.
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding policies.
- Experience in curriculum development or pastoral leadership training.
- Familiarity with the UK education system and school governance.
