The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head Academic, you will play a central role in shaping academic excellence and driving innovation in teaching and learning. This is a leadership position that requires a deep understanding of IB and IGCSE frameworks, with a focus on curriculum development, assessment, and pedagogical best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership for teaching and learning across the school.
• Develop and implement the school’s academic vision in line with IB philosophy and international best practice.
• Ensure coherence and progression across the MYP, IGCSE, and DP.
• Lead whole-school academic improvement planning and curriculum design.
• Promote inquiry-driven learning and high-quality assessment practices.
• Monitor teaching standards through lesson observations and feedback.
• Use academic data to inform improvement strategies and support differentiation.
• Oversee assessment, moderation, grading, and reporting processes.
• Support the professional growth of academic leaders and Heads of Department.
• Represent the school in IB networks and external academic forums.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Significant experience in an IB, IGCSE, and/or international school context.
• Proven academic leadership experience (e.g., Head of Department, Programme Coordinator).
• Strong understanding of IB standards, philosophy, and programme implementation.
• Experience with curriculum development, assessment design, and quality assurance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field with a recognised teaching qualification.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written).
• Experience in line management, mentoring, and staff development.
• Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Preferred

• Experience as an MYP Coordinator and/or IB Coordinator.
• Postgraduate qualification in educational leadership.
• Experience using student performance data to drive school improvement.
• Experience with international education networks and academic forums.
• A strong commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective practice.
