The Opportunity:
As the Deputy Head of English Department, you will play a vital role in driving academic excellence and supporting the Head of Department in delivering a high-quality curriculum aligned with the Cambridge guidelines. This is a leadership role that offers the chance to shape teaching and learning in a dynamic and supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Department in leading and managing the English department.
- Develop and implement the English curriculum in line with Cambridge guidelines and school standards.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning to ensure consistent quality across the department.
- Provide professional development and mentorship to English teachers.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning and student outcomes.
- Manage departmental resources, including technology and administrative tools.
- Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote English education and student achievement.
- Contribute to the school’s strategic goals and initiatives related to academic and professional growth.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant subject; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Significant teaching experience in an international school setting.
- Previous leadership or management experience, such as a coordinator or lead teacher.
- Strong understanding of the Cambridge guidelines and curriculum development.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using technology to support teaching and administration.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional planning.
- Experience in mentoring and training teachers.
- Background in British curriculum education.
