The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Deputy Headteacher to lead and support the school's mission of delivering outstanding education for students with learning difficulties and special educational needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of curriculum and assessment strategies for students with learning difficulties and SEND.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to drive school improvement and strategic direction.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to staff in the implementation of SEND best practices.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes mutual respect and student well-being.
  • Manage and develop the school’s leadership team to ensure consistent standards of teaching and learning.
  • Represent the school in the wider community and maintain strong relationships with parents and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements related to special educational needs.
  • Support the delivery of a bespoke curriculum tailored to the needs of each student.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a special educational needs setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND policy, curriculum development, and assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire staff, students, and the wider community.
  • Experience in managing and developing school leadership teams.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and strategic direction.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.
  • Background in teaching students with complex learning difficulties, including Autism and Down Syndrome.
  • Experience in leading change initiatives and embedding innovative practices in education.
  • Familiarity with the Ofsted inspection framework and a track record of achieving outstanding outcomes.
