The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students with special educational needs in Years 7 and 8, helping them access learning and build confidence. This role is essential to the school’s mission of inclusive education and requires a caring, enthusiastic individual who is committed to making a positive impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs in both classroom and small group settings.
  • Work closely with the Director of Pupil Progress (SENDCo), teaching staff, and external professionals.
  • Assist in developing individual learning plans and monitoring student progress.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, carers, and teaching staff to ensure consistent support.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Flexibility and a proactive attitude.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND policies and practices.
  • Experience with small group interventions and classroom support.
  • Understanding of inclusive education strategies and techniques.
