As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, helping them achieve their full potential. This is a dynamic and rewarding position that offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs in a structured and caring environment.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to develop individual learning plans.
  • Assist in delivering educational activities and support learning in subjects such as English, Science, Art, and Maths.
  • Build positive relationships with students and promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a calm and patient approach, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, including during residential stays.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour to the teaching team.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training to enhance professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in education or a related field.
  • Experience working with young people with complex needs, including ASD, SEMH, and ADHD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Calm and patient disposition with the ability to remain firm and fair when necessary.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or supporting learning in subjects such as English, Science, Art, or Maths.
  • Previous experience in a special school or residential setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies for students with complex needs.
  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL).
